The Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valve (SCSSV) acts as a failsafe downhole tool to prevent the uncontrolled release of reservoir fluids in the event of a worst-case-scenario surface disaster.

To ensure optimum performance API recommends for efficiency tests to be carried out for maintenance every 6 months.

The tests have to be carried out in accordance with the 14B API Rec. Practice.

• Integrity of the valve
• Workover operation
• Integrity of the Control Line
• Open and closure cycle of the valve
• Full functionality of the valve
• International Legislation
